Hello acorn75357 Try running System File Check Get your WinXP CD handy, then go to Start>Run and type sfc /scannow That'll replace any missing or corrupt system files..

I followed your instructions, thank you very much, but alas the problem remains still!

Try turning off Automatic Updates. I have known this to fix some of these svchost errors Right click My Computer/Properties/Automatic Updates. Turn it off completely.Reboot Then Start/All Programs/Windows Update (top of left column) Install all critical updates offered. Reboot and check if the problem is solved. If it is OK you can turn Automatic Updates on again.

Thank you I tired it an it didn't correct it either, I think most likely I will have to reinstall XP, or re-format the disk and start over. I really appreciate your help!

jon, you've got my vote 100%. I have been trying to get rid of this lonin error message for months, and this fixed it. Referring to the svchost.exe-Applications error. The instruction at "0x7c91b21a" referenced memory at 0x00000010". The memory could not be "written". Click OK to terminate. Click Cancel to debug. Thank you Jon Vander Grinten

Yes, finally stoped the error message also...Thank you. - However, by disabling the host process, what do I need to do. ? ie: what did it do automatically that I will now need to do manually..?

The memory could not be "written".The correction to check off disabled on the Windows Driver Foundation-User Mode Driver Framework worked like a charm, as it should on my Windows XP SP3 Professional w/ Media Center, without the mean blue screen from Dell or other wonderful cyclical stucknesses...I was scared of a disastrous consequence, but voila, forum experts do exist. I thought I would reiterate the answer in the thanks note in case someone reads this first...

turn off stand by and screen saver before you do this. it may work. i don't know why you would need the windows CD. and DON'T interupt the scan or turn off the computer nor any restart or stand by either !!!

Perfect. fixed it right away. of coarse, in order to find this resolve you have to type in everything the error message has on it. windows 7 for me soon, i hope it don;t have this complexity.
